IONOS extends build-to-order dedicated server customization to the United States and Canada

Build-to-order server customization benefits customers with individual requirements resulting from technology progress and the differentiation of use cases

IONOS, a leading digitalization partner for small and midsize businesses, today announced it is offering build-to-order (BTO) dedicated server customization in the United States and Canada, following a successful launch in Europe. BTO dedicated server customization is an extension of IONOS‘ Dedicated Servers solutions for customers whose use cases require configurations different from the many standard options available for dedicated servers.

“With over 750,000 possible combinations available for BTO dedicated server customization, we support our customers in realizing their very specific requirements. Customers can choose between a “standard” and a BTO configuration at any time. Thanks to optimized processes and a clever assembly line, we can provide the desired configuration in the shortest possible time,” said Patrick Schaudel, SVP of products, IONOS.

The AMD Ryzen Pro and AMD EPYC based models as well as the Intel Xeon E (Rocket Lake), and the second generation and fourth generation (Sapphire Rapids) Intel Xeon Scalable processor models can be customized with various memory (RAM) and storage options to design the perfect dedicated server for each use case. IONOS deploys only enterprise-grade components, including ECC-RAM, drives and SSD storage.

IONOS charges a one-time customization fee of $50 when ordering a BTO server, in addition to pricing for memory (RAM) and storage upgrades. The BTO customization always starts with the “standard” configuration of the models listed above. Customers may upgrade memory (RAM) and storage up to a certain maximum capacity. For storage upgrades there are two options:

• Increase the capacity of the standard server storage, which always comes with RAID 1.
• Add additional storage devices to the standard server storage. These additional storage devices are exposed as separate drives.

IONOS guarantees a maximum BTO server provisioning duration of 72 hours.

New IONOS customers can order a BTO server starting from the Dedicated Servers page. Current customers can order a BTO server through their cloud panel.

Alongside its new BTO dedicated server customization solutions, IONOS will continue to offer dedicated bare metal servers with fixed configurations based on commonly used proportions of cores, memory, and storage, which suit most applications and use cases. To satisfy many different performance needs, IONOS offers dedicated servers in different performance classes with common ratios of resources that many customers successfully use without BTO customization.
