SFTP is a variant of the FTP protocol for the secure transfer of data and stands for "SSH FTP" or "Secure FTP". This article describes how to set up SFTP for WordPress hosting packages purchased after 09/27/2022.

Setting Up SFTP for WordPress Hosting

  • Log in to your IONOS account.
  • Click on Menu > Websites & Stores in the title bar.
    Optional: Select the desired contract by clicking on the Manage website button on the corresponding tile.
  • Click on the Settings tab below the domain name.
  • In the Advanced settings data group, click on the SFTP & SSH line. The Manage secure FTP access page opens.
  • Click on Create new account. The Create new FTP account account page opens.
  • Enter all the details for your new FTP access and complete the entries by clicking Save.
