With the help of reCAPTCHA, a security application from Google, entries and interactions with your online shop are checked and rejected if misuse is suspected. What is reCAPTCHA?
reCAPTCHA is an online service from Google that protects websites from bot attacks. A bot is a computer program that performs certain actions automatically and in high quantities, such as submitting false reviews.
reCAPTCHA checks the behavior and parameters of the website visitor in the background, and concludes whether the visitor is a human or a bot. If a website visitor is not identified as a human, certain actions can be prevented. This check usually takes place without any interaction being necessary.
Activate reCAPTCHA in MyWebsite
By default, reCAPTCHA is deactivated. To activate reCAPTCHA, proceed as follows:
- Log in to your IONOS account.
- In the title bar, click on Menu > Websites & stores > Tile of your MyWebsite project > Manage website.
- In the MyWebsite menu on the right-hand side, activate Settings > General > Shop security (activate reCAPTCHA to protect against spam)
The reCAPTCHA function in MyWebsite is free of charge for you.
