Incoming Mail Server
An incoming mail server processes and delivers emails sent to your email address. Like any email service provider, IONOS operates its own servers for this purpose.
The name of the respective provider is typically part of the server address of the incoming mail server used (ex. imap.ionos.com or imap.gmail.com).
IONOS Webmail is already set up to use the correct incoming server. If you use a separate email client other than Webmail, such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple Mail, you have to enter the address of the IONOS incoming server. This is the only way these programs can receive incoming email to your IONOS mailbox.
You can operate the incoming mail server with either POP3 or IMAP.
For IMAP, the address for the IONOS incoming mail server is imap.ionos.com.
For POP3, use the address pop3.ionos.com.
Emails are sent by an outgoing mail server.
