How to delete a Truth Social account

Truth Social, the app launched by Donald Trump and branded as a fake news fighting platform, quickly came under fire after its launch for being plagued by numerous technical issues and using social bots for moderation of its content. If you signed up for an account but no longer wish to use it, you can simply deactivate and then delete your profile using the mobile app or a web browser. Read on to explore the top tips and tricks to deleting your Truth Social account.

1. Navigate to the “Settings and privacy” by clicking on “More”.
2. In the “Your account” tab select “Deactivate your account”.
3. Confirm deactivation of your account by clicking on “Deactivate”.
4. Enter your password and confirm that you wish to proceed with the deactivation by clicking the “Deactivate account” button.

In order to delete the Truth Social app from your mobile phone, you first need to deactivate your user account. If you simply delete the app from your phone without deactivation, your user account will remain activated.

Deactivation lasts for 30 days during which you should not access your account. After the 30-day deactivation window, your account will be permanently deleted and will no longer be visible on the app or in search engines.

If you just want to switch your username on the app, you don’t need to delete it. Simply navigate to the “Account information menu” and update your username from there.

Step 1: Open the app and go to “More options” by selecting “Settings and privacy” from the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Select “Deactivate your account” from the options menu.

Step 3: Read the information on account deactivation. If you wish to continue with deleting your account, click “Deactivate”.

Step 4: Finally, simply enter your password and confirm deactivation by clicking the “Deactivate account” button.

Once you’ve deactivated your user account, you’ll need to wait for 30 days before the account is fully deleted. That means any messages you’ve shared on the platform will remain available during that period. Importantly, during this period you should not use your account to avoid reactivation.

Step 5: As a final step, delete the app from your phone by pressing it and selecting “Delete” (iPhone).
